Meet the coaches and team

As a Viera Volleyball coaching staff our goal is to inspire and motivate volleyball players both on and off the court. We emphasize sportsmanship, teamwork, and community service. We strive to give every player a better understanding of herself through hard work and competition. 

Head Coach

Sarah Wayne

Sarah Wayne has been the Varsity Head coach at Viera High School since it opened in 2006. Sarah grew up in Brevard County and attended Titusville and Satellite High Schools. She was the 4 time- All Space Coast Tennis Player of the Year and 2 time Volleyball Player of the Year. She also played for Cape Coast Volleyball Club winning the Florida Regional Qualifier in 2000. After graduating from Satellite, Sarah attended the University of Kentucky on a full volleyball scholarship. In her 4 years at UK, Sarah ranks in career: Attempts, Kills, Digs and Aces; and also holds the record for most kills in one match (38). In 2012, Sarah made the FL Region Professional Volleyball Team, Florida WAVE as an outside. Sarah teaches AP Psychology at Viera High School and has 3 children.

Varsity Assistant

Eric Murray

Eric has been the Varsity Assistant at Viera High School for over 8 years. Additionally, in that time as the Freshmen coach, his record was 71-4 including 3-time undefeated seasons. Eric also coaches at Cape Coast Volleyball Club. He grew up in Puerto Rico where he played JV and Varsity volleyball, winning several high school tournaments and becoming one of the top teams in Puerto Rico. He is a certified personal trainer at Pro-Health with over 20 years of experience, helping athletes of all ages and fitness levels to reach their goals safely and effectively. 


Varsity Assistant

Diego Perez

Diego has been coaching at Cape Coast Volleyball club since 2012. He’s coached anywhere from 12s-18s over his 9 years with CCVC. In addition he was a man assistant at Rockledge from 2010-2012 where they won the first CCC championship in school history. After Rockledge he was the head JV and varsity assistant at Cocoa Beach from 2012-2014. They won district championships both years he was at CBHS. He then was head coach at Astronaut High School from 2014-2019. During his time at AHS they came in 2nd in the CCC once and 3rd twice. They were 3 time district runner ups and won first playoff game for school since 1992. In 2019 he was assistant coach at Eastern Florida State College.


Junior-Varsity Coach

Lana Andrews

Lana has been around the game in multiple capacities for over two decades. Lana spent time assisting at the division three college level, before moving on to high school and club coaching. Most recently she coached here at Viera High and club volleyball in Brevard. She has a bachelors degree in Physical Education and coaching. It’s her philosophy to use the game as a vehicle to encourage, develop, grow, and instill positive life skills in young athletes. “Good, better, best, never let it rest, until your good is better and better best.”

Freshman Coach

Kelly grew up in Brevard County and attended Rockledge High as a four-sport varsity athlete.  She is a Cape Coast Volleyball Club alumni and attended Eastern Florida State College (then Brevard Community College) on a full volleyball scholarship.  Over the last 14 years, Kelly has coached a variety of age groups at every skill level.  She is returning to Viera after having her first child and works at Northrop Grumman.
