Viera gets 3rd beating nationally ranked teams

Veria finished 3rd overall out of 86 teams at the Nike Tournament of Champions over the weekend. As the only Brevard team competing in the top Platinum division, their path included wins over top ranked teams in Florida, Georgia, and Pennsylvania, and even the #17 nationally ranked team. The Nike Tournament of Champions is a highly selective, invite only tournament, which boasts some of the beast teams in the Southeast USA. This year's platinum division included 5 of the top 20 teams in the nation.

Izzy Starck and Sophia Jones both received all-tournament team honors. Together they accounted for 112 Kills, 11 Aces, 71 assists, 90 digs, and 8 blocks.

vs Sandy Creek (2022 GA 3A State Runner-Up and Current #5 overall in GA)

vs Venice (2022 7A State Champs and Current National #17)

Win - 26-24, 25-22

vs Carrollwood Day (2022 3A State Runner-Up)

Loss - 20-25, 25-22, 5-15

Win - 25-22, 25-22

2023 Tryout Results

Thank you all for trying out for the 2023 Viera Hawks Volleyball team. We had an impressive total of 75 players come out this year. The coaching staff and I would like to thank you all for giving us your best over the last two days.

Players whose numbers are listed below, please have your parents email Coach Wayne at wayne.sarah@brevardschools.org with your name as the subject line. I will be sending the zoom link for the mandatory parent meeting on Friday, August 4th at 7:00pm.

If you do not see your number and would still like to volunteer with the 2023 Viera Hawks Volleyball program (concessions, team manager, line judge, etc.), please email Coach Wayne at the email address above with your interest and availability.

Freshmen - Thursday, August 10th at 3:30pm

Junior-Varsity - Tuesday, August 8th at 1:00pm
